Jamshedpur Authorities Crackdown On River Bank Encroachments
26 Notices Issued Under JPLE Ahead Of NGT Hearing
Officials target 206 illegal constructions violating environmental guidelines.
JAMSHEDPUR – The local authorities in Jamshedpur’s urban areas have taken action against encroachments on river bank lands.
The Mango and Jamshedpur Circle Officers have recently issued 26 notices under JPLE cases to individuals who are suspected of encroaching on land.
"We have served 16 notices in Mango and 10 in Jamshedpur Circle," said Brajesh Shrivastava, the Circle Officer of Mango.
The action aims to deal with the issue of unauthorized use of specific lands in wards 8 and 10 of the Mango area.
JNAC CO Manoj Kumar has confirmed that notices have been issued under section-3 of JPLE, which require explanations from the respondents.
The crackdown is happening before a hearing at the Kolkata Bench of the National Green Tribunal on Monday.
Authorities have found a total of 206 illegal constructions, and out of those, 62 are located within a distance of 10 meters from the river bank.
The initiative comes as a result of concerns that were raised during a recent meeting led by the Deputy Commissioner.
Officials are currently working on a comprehensive report regarding construction activities on both private and government-owned lands.
This action highlights the importance of local initiatives to uphold environmental regulations and tackle unauthorized constructions.
