Two-wheeler riders narrowly escape as speeding car crashes near Bima Road

Local residents apprehend inebriated motorist, hand over to police.

JAMSHEDPUR – A drunk driver caused a serious accident near the Bima Road drain in Sidgora police station area on Friday, colliding with two vehicles and narrowly avoiding tragedy.

Eyewitnesses report that the car was speeding from Bima Road towards Agrico when it struck two scooters near the drain.

"One scooter rider managed to jump to safety, but the car was moving so fast it completely crushed the second scooter," a bystander stated.

The impact was so severe that the scooter became wedged under the car, forcing it to a stop.

Passersby quickly caught the driver as he attempted to flee the scene.

"The driver was visibly intoxicated," another witness noted. "People roughed him up before handing him over to the police."

Sidhgora police arrived promptly, taking the driver into custody and seizing both vehicles.

"It took hours to extricate the scooter from under the car," a police official commented.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of drunk driving in Jamshedpur, despite strict enforcement efforts.

Local residents have called for increased police patrols and stricter penalties for driving under the influence.

The quick action of bystanders in apprehending the driver potentially prevented further harm.

Police are investigating the case and are likely to file charges against the intoxicated driver.

This accident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the importance of road safety awareness.
