MEDININAGAR – Palamu police have successfully arrested six criminals linked to the notorious Sujit Sinha gang, accused of several attacks and extortion activities in Jharkhand and Bihar.
Details of the Arrest
The arrests followed a tip-off about gang members active in the region. A special police team raided their hideout, apprehending six individuals: Prince Kumar (Aurangabad, Bihar), Amit Kumar Sharma (Gaya, Bihar), Saurabh Singh (Manpur, Bihar), Amit Kumar Chaudhary (Bhawanathpur, Garhwa), Sameer Ansari (Pokhraha, Palamu), and Dharmendra Kumar Pandey (Manjhiwan, Garhwa).
Criminal Activities and Jail Attacks
Palamu SP Reeshma Rameshan revealed in a press conference that the gang was behind attacks on the Palamu Central Jail in 2007-08 and Chaibasa Jail in 2019, with Dharmendra Kumar Pandey playing a key role. The gang also targeted sites linked to Bharatmala highway projects, demanding extortion from business owners and contractors.
Ongoing Investigations and Key Revelations
Police investigations uncovered that the gang extorted several stone traders in Palamu and coordinated operations with the help of individuals like Shubham Singh, who recruited new members for the gang. SP Rameshan noted that the gang also carried out attacks on infrastructure projects in Aurangabad, Bihar.
Team Effort by Law Enforcement
The successful operation involved Town Police Station Officer-in-Charge Devvrat Poddar, Sub-Inspector Tanjeelul Manan, Rishikesh Dubey, and Sangeeta Kumari Jha, among others. The arrests are expected to significantly disrupt gang activities in the region.
