Advocates Demand Reduction in Membership Fees at Jamshedpur Bar Association

Lawyers urge Jharkhand State Bar Council Secretary to lower membership fees to support new advocates.

Advocates in Jamshedpur have called for a reduction in the Bar Association’s membership fees to make it more affordable for new lawyers.

JAMSHEDPUR – Advocates from Jamshedpur met with Rajesh Pandey, Secretary of the Jharkhand State Bar Council, Ranchi, on Saturday to discuss the high membership fees of the Jamshedpur Bar Association.

The advocates highlighted that new lawyers, especially those from economically weaker sections, are struggling to afford the Rs 20,000 membership fee.

This high fee prevents them from obtaining membership, which is necessary to apply for a stipend.

Many of these new advocates are graduates of the government-run Jamshedpur Cooperative Law College, where they managed to complete their LLB despite financial difficulties.

In neighboring districts, the membership fees are significantly lower.

The advocates submitted a memorandum requesting that the membership fee be reduced to Rs 5,000.

The meeting was attended by advocates Amar Tiwari, Aditya Pandey, Sudip Chaudhary, Mantu Kumar, Ashok Kumar, and others.
