75-year-old struck by speeding motorcyclist near Amar Market, Bistupur

Incident highlights public apathy and raises concerns about emergency response in the city.

JAMSHEDPUR – A 75-year-old man was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident near Amar Market in Bistupur on Saturday, exposing a concerning lack of public response and emergency care.

The elderly victim was struck by a speeding motorcyclist who fled the scene immediately.

For nearly 30 minutes, the injured man lay on the road without assistance, despite being in a busy area.

The accident occurred close to Bistupur Police Station and a traffic post, yet no official help arrived.

Two young men on a scooter eventually transported the victim to Tata Main Hospital (TMH).

The victim’s condition is reported to be critical, with doctors providing emergency care.

Inquiries revealed the elderly man works for a cloth merchant in Bistupur.

When contacted, the employer visited TMH but refused to cover medical expenses.

The incident raises questions about responsibility for the victim’s substantial medical bills.

Concerns grow about the fate of the elderly man, who reportedly has no local family.

This case highlights the need for improved emergency response systems and public awareness in Jamshedpur.

Locas have raised concern for the delayed reaction to an accident in a central area of the city.
