Markets See Surge In Activity As Shoppers Prepare For Limited Auspicious Dates

JAMSHEDPUR – The city is witnessing a flurry of activity in its markets as residents prepare for the upcoming wedding season, limited to six auspicious days from July 9 to July 15.

"With no auspicious dates until October, many are planning weddings within this short window," a local pandit explained.

Improved weather conditions have reignited shopping enthusiasm after a period of subdued activity due to intense heat.

Jewelers report a trend towards lightweight pieces, with gold prices dropping from Rs 68,900 in May to Rs 65,400 for 22-carat gold.

"Customers are favoring comfort and affordability in jewellery choices," noted a prominent local jeweler.

Furniture sellers have diversified their offerings, with Carvin and L-type sofas and Onyx dining sets in high demand.

"We’re seeing increased advance bookings due to the shorter season," a furniture store owner stated.

In clothing, sarees and bridal lehengas with fancy embroidery, Kanjeevaram silk, and Jaipuri bandhani work are popular.

Men’s fashion trends lean towards branded apparel, reflecting a preference for quality and style.

Utensil markets report demand for durable, reasonably priced cookware, crockery sets, and gas stoves.

Traders express optimism about market performance, contingent on favorable weather conditions during the season.
