JAMSHEDPUR – Singo Soren, a 17-year-old resident of Kendua Giri Tola under Dumria police station, succumbed to a snakebite on Wednesday night.
Soren, a 12th-grade student at Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School, had been staying at a relative’s house in Kaliam of Astakowali Panchayat for several days.
Her father, Sayba Soren, reported that she was bitten by a spotted snake while sleeping on the floor.
She was found unconscious in the morning and taken to CHC Dumria, where doctors declared her dead after examination.
The family had attempted traditional exorcism throughout the night, which caused the poison to spread rapidly.
This tragic incident underscores the dangers of snakebites and the importance of timely medical intervention.
Singo Soren was a promising student, and her untimely death has left the community in mourning.
Health officials urge residents to seek immediate medical help in case of snakebites to prevent such tragic outcomes.
