Minister Deepak Birua Addresses Drinking Water and Healthcare Issues in Chaibasa
Social Worker Rajaram Gupta Raises Concerns, Meeting Scheduled with Department Officials
Chaibasa area is grappling with a severe drinking water crisis, while the Sadar Hospital is overwhelmed with patients suffering from seasonal diseases, forcing the hospital to provide treatment on makeshift structures and the ground, with saline being administered to patients lying on the floor.
CHAIBASA – In a bid to address the pressing issues of drinking water scarcity and inadequate healthcare facilities in Chaibasa, social worker Rajaram Gupta met with Jharkhand’s Minister of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Backward Class Welfare and Transport Department, Deepak Birua, at his office on Monday.
Gupta apprised the Minister of the problems plaguing the region, particularly the incomplete laying of pipelines by the drinking water and sanitation department in certain wards of Chaibasa, which has led to a severe water crisis.
Despite repeated correspondence with the department, no concrete action has been taken to resolve the issues, as per Gupta.
Furthermore, the Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa is struggling to accommodate the influx of patients, resulting in treatment being provided on makeshift structures and even on the ground, with saline being administered to patients lying on the floor due to a lack of beds.
Upon being informed about the situation, Minister Deepak Birua assured that a meeting would be held with the officials of the drinking water and sanitation department on Tuesday to gather more information and issue necessary directives to address the concerns.
The Minister also stated that additional facilities would be provided to the Sadar Hospital using funds from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to improve the healthcare infrastructure.
The intervention of Minister Deepak Birua and the proactive efforts of social worker Rajaram Gupta have rekindled hope among the residents of Chaibasa, who have been bearing the brunt of the water crisis and inadequate healthcare facilities.
The upcoming meeting with department officials is expected to yield concrete solutions and action plans to tackle the pressing issues and provide relief to the people of Chaibasa.
