CM Directs DCs and SPs to Prioritize Law and Order, Admits State’s Image Tarnished
Chief Minister Champai Soren held a high-level meeting with district officials, issuing directives to curb crime and illegal mining, acknowledging their negative impact on Jharkhand’s image.
RANCHI – The Chief Minister provided important instructions following a comprehensive review of law and order, crime and extremism control, action against illegal mining, drug and alcohol smuggling and sale, and matters related to forest, excise, and land revenue.
Acknowledging the evolving nature of crime, Soren emphasized the increasing challenges faced by the police and stressed the importance of their work style and a robust information system in effectively controlling crime.
He urged the police to strategize for both current and future crime challenges.
Leveraging Technology and Interstate Coordination
The Chief Minister highlighted the availability of advanced technologies that can aid in understanding, tracking, and controlling crime.
He emphasized the need for the police to stay updated with modern technology to combat criminal activities effectively.
Soren also suggested studying law and order maintenance arrangements in other states to adapt and implement them in Jharkhand as needed.
He further stressed the importance of improving the traffic system in the state.
Strengthening Coordination Between DCs and SPs
Chief Minister Soren emphasized that better coordination between DCs and SPs in any district strengthens law and order and crime control, leading to improved results and providing impetus to development.
He urged the officials to work together closely to ensure a more secure and progressive environment in their respective districts.
Crackdown on Illegal Mining
Expressing the government’s seriousness about curbing illegal mining, the Chief Minister admitted that the state’s image has been affected by this issue.
He directed the officials to take all necessary steps to stop illegal mining and transportation, particularly of coal, sand, iron ore, and stone.
Soren’s acknowledgment of the negative impact of illegal mining on Jharkhand’s reputation underscores the urgency to address this problem effectively.
Protection of Tribal Rights and Welfare
The Chief Minister instructed the officials to ensure that evicted tribals are given possession of their land promptly.
He emphasized the need to grant tribals possession of land in cases related to Scheduled Tribes where the court’s decree has been passed.
Soren also called for the prioritization and speedy disposal of cases registered under the SC-ST Act.
Furthermore, he urged the authorities to ensure that people do not face any hardships due to police camps in Naxal-affected areas, highlighting the importance of balancing security measures with the welfare of the local population.
