Former Minister Saryu Roy Calls for Investigation into Ayushman Bharat Yojana Irregularities in Jharkhand

Claims of Corruption and Irregularities in Scheme Implementation Demand Urgent Attention

Former Minister and Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy has raised serious concerns about the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Jharkhand, calling for an investigation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Saryu Roy, a former minister and Jamshedpur MLA, has called for a thorough investigation into notable discrepancies found in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Jharkhand.

Roy has urged Chief Minister Champai Soren to investigate the alleged corruption involving the state Health Minister, according to a press release.

Roy brought attention to the alleged corruption involving officials from the insurance company in charge of the scheme and a private middleman company.

According to him, these irregularities not only affected patients but also put a strain on the state treasury.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on January 11, 2024, between the Jharkhand State Health Society and Niruj Consultants LLP has raised concerns and is currently being examined closely.

Roy expressed doubts about the possibility of a private company providing free services, suggesting that there might be undisclosed motives at play.

He requested an inquiry into the connection between Niruj and the insurance companies implicated.

Roy stressed the importance of considering how this arrangement affects premium setting, payments, and hospital bills.

He expressed his worries about the influence of powerful individuals within the health department that may be enabling these irregularities.

Roy requested the Chief Minister to reconsider and cancel the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Jharkhand Arogya Society and Niruj.

He emphasized that certain groups with personal interests may be working against the goals of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the state.

Roy is urging for action to promote transparency and accountability in the implementation of the health scheme.
