Experts Discuss Advanced Concepts in Steel Structure Design at National Workshop

The National Workshop on Limit State Design of Steel Structures (LSDSS-2024) at NIT Jamshedpur covered innovative design philosophies and techniques.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Jamshedpur hosted the LSDSS-2024 workshop, supported by the Jharkhand Council of Science & Technology and Innovation.

The workshop included comprehensive sessions on limit state design philosophy, conceptual steel structure design, load combinations, and structural member behavior.

Attendees learned about the intricate details of tubular member and connection design.

Special sessions focused on welded and bolted connections and extreme loading design.

The event featured notable speakers including Dr. Vineet Sahoo from NIT Jamshedpur and Prof. S. B. Singh from BITS Pilani.

Dr. Vishwajit Anand from IIT (BHU) and Er. Nelluru Subba Reddy from Dragados Offshore S.A.U shared their expertise.

Dr. Romanbabu Oinam from IIT Gu and Prof. Venkatesh K. R. Kodur from Michigan State University also spoke at the workshop.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of the Government’s Women Polytechnic College, Jamshedpur, attended the event.

Prof. R.V Sharma, Deputy Director of NIT Jamshedpur, was also present, adding to the event’s significance.

The workshop aimed to enhance understanding of steel structure design among professionals and students.

It provided a platform for knowledge exchange and networking among experts and participants.

The event highlighted the importance of advanced design techniques in modern civil engineering.
