Residents of Mango are facing a prolonged water crisis, impacting daily life despite the Municipal Corporation’s efforts to manage the situation through additional water tankers.

JAMSHEDPUR – Mango continues to struggle with an acute water shortage, as municipal efforts fall short of addressing the high demand for water among residents.

The water scarcity primarily stems from the non-functionality of the Mango Water Supply Scheme, which has ceased to provide 40 MLD of water, further straining the limited supplies.

The area’s underground water sources and pipeline systems have not recovered, leading officials to hope for upcoming rainfall to alleviate the situation.

In particular, localities such as Shankosai, Kisto Nagar, and Baganshahi are severely impacted, where groundwater depletion has rendered borewells and hand pumps ineffective.

With no quick fix in sight, the Municipal Corporation has ramped up the dispatch of water tankers to the hardest-hit neighborhoods.

Approximately 12,000 inhabitants of these areas are now forced to buy water as the crisis persists, indicating the severity of the shortage.
