JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur police have uncovered an operation producing counterfeit tea leaves branded with logos of Tata Tea and Red Label on Shiv Ghat Road, under the jurisdiction of Jugsalai police station.

A local resident, originally from Sikandarpur village in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in connection with the illegal manufacturing setup.

During the raid, authorities seized a pouch with a tea leaf company logo, loose tea leaves, packaging machines, and various other materials used in the tea-making and packing process.

The arrest followed a tip-off and subsequent complaint by Tata Tea Company official, Ranjit Kumar Saha, to Jugsalai police station.

Saha reported that the fake brand was being sold in the market, prompting police to organize a targeted operation led by the DSP of Law and Order.

The seized tea is currently under examination to assess its quality and potential health risks, as it involved the misuse of reputable brand names and possibly harmful production practices.

This incident is part of a recurring issue in the area, where similar fraudulent activities have been previously identified and stopped.

The investigation continues as police seek further information from the accused about the extent of the counterfeit operation, although no additional arrests have been made so far.
