JAMSHEDPUR – The Meteorological Department has warned residents of an impending rise in temperature, urging caution and advising against outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
Jamshedpur residents are feeling the extremes of sweltering heat in the wake of dry and hot weather during the last couple of days.
Street vendors have seen a boost in sales of ice chaat, sherbet, juices and other cool edibles as residents turn to traditional refreshments to beat the heat.
Many vendors from Kadma highlighted the challenges faced by parents and school children, particularly during the sweltering afternoon commutes.
In the wake of the heat wave, there has been a noticeable increase in the sale of sunglasses, caps, and other sun protection items at local markets like Sakchi Bazaar.
The demand for summer soothers such as lemonade, soda, sattu, ice gola, and chaat has surged, with watermelon and sugarcane juice vendors experiencing brisk business.
Residents have been specifically advised to limit outdoor activities between 12:00 and 4:00 PM, as the forecast indicates prolonged heat conditions ahead.
Parents and school children commuting to schools have raised concerns over the intense heat. On the other hand the Meteorological Department too has issued predictions about ongoing heatwave in parts of Jharkhand, including Jamshedpur.
