Saryu Roy Assessing Possibility of Contesting LS Elections from Dhanbad

Independent MLA Seeks Support from BJP, Congress, and Other Parties for a “Clean Candidate”

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy, the initiator of the Damodar Bachao Abhiyan, hinted at the possibility of contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Dhanbad, emphasizing the need for a clean candidate to address the deteriorating environmental situation and corruption in the region.

DHANBAD – During his visit to Shriram Lodge in Jharia on Saturday, MLA Saryu Roy met with his supporters and assessed the environmental, social, and political conditions of the area.

Roy emphasized the need for a clean leader in Dhanbad, stating that corruption is responsible for the deteriorating environmental situation in the Coal Belt.

He mentioned his work on the Damodar River rescue since 2004, which has led to an improvement in the river’s condition.

Roy’s Conditions for Contesting Elections

Roy said that he had come to Dhanbad on the request of the people and that he would consider contesting the elections if the people of Dhanbad support him wholeheartedly with their intentions, mind, and money.

He urged the BJP to reconsider its choice of Lok Sabha candidate for Dhanbad, warning that the people would not forgive the party in the future if they failed to do so.

Roy also revealed that he had talked to leaders of other parties, urging them to field clean candidates to build a healthy society and ensure proper development in Dhanbad.

Support for His Followers and Criticism of BJP

Roy assured his supporters that he stands behind them and is ready to face any crisis for them.

He criticized the BJP for giving Lok Sabha tickets to corrupt individuals, despite the party’s earlier stance against corruption, hunger, and brotherhood, and called for introspection on the matter.

Congress MLA Purnima Neeraj Singh’s Involvement

Congress MLA from Jharia, Purnima Neeraj Singh, has reached Delhi to meet in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir to discuss the Dhanbad Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress leadership believes that Singh can take a strong electoral front against BJP candidate Dhulu Mahato from Dhanbad, despite her earlier refusal to contest the elections.
