BJP Announces Candidates for Chatra, Dhanbad, Dumka LS Seats
New Faces Given Chance, Including 3 Women Candidates in Jharkhand
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidates for the Chatra, Dhanbad, and Dumka Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, giving opportunities to new faces, including three women candidates, for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
RANCHI – Kalicharan Singh, the current state vice president of BJP, has been given the ticket from Chatra, replacing outgoing MP Sunil Kumar Singh. Dhulu Mahato, an MLA from Baghmara assembly constituency, has been named the candidate from Dhanbad, replacing MP PN Singh.
In a significant development, Sita Soren, who recently left Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and joined BJP, has been made the candidate from Dumka, replacing the previously announced candidate, Sunil Soren. Sita Soren, the elder daughter-in-law of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and sister-in-law of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, resigned from all posts in JMM and the Assembly before joining BJP.

The decision to field Sita Soren from Dumka has added an element of intrigue to the electoral contest in the constituency. As a former JMM MLA and member of the influential Soren family, her candidature is expected to have a significant impact on the political dynamics of the region.
13 Out of 14 Jharkhand LS Seats Announced
With the latest announcement, BJP has declared candidates for 13 out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand. The list includes three women candidates: Annapurna Devi from Koderma, Geeta Koda from Singhbhum, and Sita Soren from Dumka.
Other candidates announced earlier include Sanjay Seth from Ranchi, Arjun Munda from Khunti, Tala Marandi from Rajmahal, Nishikant Dubey from Godda, Vishnudayal Ram from Palamu, Vidyutvaran Mahato from Jamshedpur, Sameer Oraon from Lohardaga, and Manish Jaiswal from Hazaribagh.
BJP’s Fifth List Features Prominent Names
BJP’s fifth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections features several prominent names, including Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, RK Singh from Arrah, Kangana Ranaut from Mandi, Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur, and Sushil Singh from Aurangabad. The party has also given a ticket to actor Arun Govil from Meerut, while Varun Gandhi’s ticket has been canceled.
