JAMSHEDPUR – On World Water Day, Tata Steel celebrated the inauguration of a significant addition to its environmental conservation efforts—a newly created waterbody in the Sidhgora area, led by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services.
Spanning one acre with a 10-million litre capacity, this waterbody is set to bolster the city’s water conservation initiatives, featuring a two-metre pathway for local residents and enhanced with 120 newly planted saplings to enrich its greenery.
Located beside Bheema Road, the site benefits from a natural incline, transforming what was once a grey water catchment into a functional rainwater harvesting pond, collecting runoff from surrounding higher terrain.
This project aligns with Tata Steel’s ongoing commitment to increasing the green cover and water retention capabilities of Jamshedpur, emphasizing the rejuvenation and creation of water bodies as a core component of its sustainability strategy.
Such initiatives underscore Tata Steel’s dedication to improving environmental health and community well-being, with similar projects underway across the city to support the broader ecosystem.
