IIM Trichy Leads, IITs Follow in Tata Steel’s Ananta Quest for Disabled Students

Tata Steel’s Ananta Quest showcases commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel has unveiled the victors of the inaugural Ananta Quest, a pioneering case study competition for students with disabilities from India’s tech and business schools.

Team Alchemist from IIM Trichy clinched the top spot, followed by Team Madras from IIT Madras and Team Universe from IIT Kharagpur and ISM Dhanbad, highlighting the talent across educational institutions.

The finale, celebrated in Jamshedpur on March 15, 2024, saw the winning teams receive cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 20,000 respectively.

This event, attended by students and Tata Steel’s senior leaders, underscored the company’s dedication to equal opportunities and a diverse workplace.

All 14 finalists, spanning 11 teams, are offered internships or pre-placement interviews at Tata Steel, ensuring practical industry exposure. Atrayee Sanyal, Vice President of HR at Tata Steel, praised the competition’s role in promoting inclusivity and providing a platform for showcasing the skills of students with disabilities.

Ananta Quest drew over 550 registrations and 160 case study submissions under categories like Sustainability and Corporate Strategy, reflecting a broad interest in contributing to real-world business challenges. The jury, including top executives from Tata Steel, based their evaluations on the participants’ analytical and problem-solving skills.

This initiative aligns with Tata Steel’s MOSAIC platform, aimed at fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. With a goal to achieve 25% workforce diversity by 2025, Tata Steel continues to break barriers and support talent irrespective of physical abilities.

The success of Ananta Quest’s first edition is a testament to Tata Steel’s unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, setting a benchmark for corporate India.
