JMM, BJP Nominate Candidates for Jharkhand Polls
Sarfaraz Ahmad and Dr. Pradip Varma’s nominations heat up the competition for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand.
RANCHI – The nomination of Dr. Pradip Varma by the BJP and Sarfaraz Ahmad by the JMM highlights a keen contest in the Rajya Sabha elections.
The Congress-JMM-RJD alliance controls 47 out of 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly.
The NDA enjoys support from at least 31 legislators.
Over 50 years of political experience backs Sarfaraz Ahmad.
Sarfaraz Ahmad’s transition from Congress to JMM was marked by securing his candidacy from Gandey.
The Gandey Assembly seat fell under JMM’s banner in the 2019 elections due to the Congress-JMM-RJD alliance.
Dr. Pradip Varma’s candidacy for the Rajya Sabha was officially approved by the BJP.
Arun Singh, BJP’s National General Secretary, issued the nomination notification.
Sarfaraz Ahmad, a former MLA, stepped down from his assembly membership at the end of last year.
His resignation came after being chosen as JMM’s Rajya Sabha candidate.
The BJP has put forward Dr. Pradip Varma, the State BJP General Secretary, for the Rajya Sabha elections on March 21.
