Meeting reviews progress on pending civic and development projects
Key Points:
- MLA raises unused dustbins and vehicles lying at JNAC yard
- Waterlogging in Teachers Colony drain flagged for urgent action
- New Aadhaar centre planned at Sidhgora Town Hall
JAMSHEDPUR – The local MLA met Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan on Friday to discuss pending public grievances and development works in the assembly constituency.
The meeting reviewed progress on issues raised earlier at a Disha Committee session. Several important subjects were discussed at length.
The MLA raised the matter of dustbins and vehicles lying unused at the JNAC yard for a long time. According to the MLA, dustbins and vehicles worth lakhs of rupees remain out of use.
The MLA urged the deputy commissioner to remove the vehicles from the yard. He also sought early distribution of the dustbins to residents.
However, the deputy commissioner assured priority action despite the busy schedule of officials. He said steps would be taken soon to address the matter.
Meanwhile, the meeting also discussed waterlogging in the city during the monsoon season. The MLA said garbage accumulated inside hume pipes in the Teachers Colony drain is obstructing water outflow.
A deep-cleaning drive has been planned for immediate relief, officials said. Besides, a proposal for constructing an RCD drain has been placed for a permanent solution.
The MLA noted that the drain project is not possible through the MLA fund. Jusco has therefore been requested to take up the responsibility.
In addition, a demand was raised to split Birsanagar police station into two units. This, officials said, would strengthen policing in the expanding area and curb the sale of narcotics.
On the other hand, the meeting also took up the establishment of a new Aadhaar centre for residents’ convenience. The MLA said the process is in its final stage.
Once formalities are completed, the Aadhaar centre will begin operations at Sidhgora Town Hall or another suitable location. Residents will then no longer need to travel to Mango for Aadhaar-related work.
The MLA concluded the meeting with an appeal to citizens and the administration. He urged them to jointly maintain the city as clean, safe and orderly.
The meeting comes days after Mango MLA Saryu Roy directed JNAC to begin work on 38 pending projects. Similarly, the deputy commissioner had earlier inspected Mango and Bodam offices to push faster grievance resolution.
Meanwhile, MLA Purnima Sahu had also held a high-level meeting with Tata Steel UISL on civic works. Besides, sanitation worker wage issues have also been raised by local MLAs in recent weeks.
