JAMSHEDPUR – A primary school teacher died on Monday morning after a road accident near Jail Chowk in the Sakchi police station area.

The deceased has been identified as Rajnigandha Das, who taught at a government primary school in Edelbeda. She was riding pillion with her husband toward her school when she suddenly lost balance and fell onto the road.

Das suffered a severe head injury in the fall. She had reportedly been wearing a helmet at the time.

However, the impact of the fall was strong enough to damage the helmet and cause serious internal injuries to her head.

Her husband, Sushil Das, who works with Tata Steel, immediately rushed her to Tata Main Hospital for treatment. Doctors at the hospital made efforts to save her life.

Despite their efforts, she could not survive the injuries and died during treatment. According to family members, Das used to travel along the same route to her school every day.

She had left home for duty as usual on Monday when the accident occurred. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son and a daughter.

Her son has completed an engineering degree in Mumbai, while her daughter is pursuing an MBA in Bengaluru. Both children are expected to reach Jamshedpur, after which the last rites will be performed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, news of the teacher’s death has caused grief within educational circles in the city. Office-bearers of the Jharkhand Primary Teachers’ Association expressed deep sorrow over her demise.

“She was a dedicated, sincere teacher who maintained cordial relations with everyone,” an association official said. The officials added that her untimely death has caused an irreparable loss to the teaching community.
