Bihar Gang Using Fake Fingerprints for AEPS Fraud Exposed
Jamshedpur Police’s swift action uncovers a Bihar-based gang’s Aadhaar Enabled Payment System fraud, leading to arrests and recovery of fake identities.
JAMSHEDPUR – A significant breakthrough was achieved by Jamshedpur Police in the fight against digital fraud, thanks to a tip-off from a local Pragya Kendra operator.
The informant, running a center at Katig Chowk, alerted authorities about a suspicious individual using cloned fingerprints to commit AEPS fraud in remote areas.
Following the report, police advised the informant to notify them upon the individual’s return.
The accused, identified as Raja Kumar from Nawada, Bihar, was apprehended the next day during another fraudulent attempt at the Pragya Center.
In the operation led by Patamada zone police inspector Kaushalendra Kumar and Kamalpur police station in-charge Deepak Thakur, alongside their team, critical evidence was seized.
Recovered items include 13 fake fingerprints, 11 Aadhaar card details, mobile numbers, and a sum of Rs 3460.
Raja Kumar has been taken into custody and sent to judicial jail, with investigations ongoing to apprehend the mastermind, Praveen Kumar, as revealed by the arrested suspect.
Jamshedpur SSP disclosed details of the operation, highlighting the successful collaboration between the police and the local community in thwarting this digital scam.
