Scholarship scheme launched for girl students in technical fields by Jharkhand Cabinet.
Jharkhand government introduces scholarships for girls under ‘Manki Munda’ to promote technical education.
RANCHI – In a noteworthy decision, the state cabinet in its second meeting has approved the proposal to make Jamshedpur Co-operative Law College into a separate entity under Kolhan University. Till now, it has been functioning as the law faculty of Jamshedpur Co-operative College.
In other crucial cabinet decisions, the NGOs will now oversee the operation of 593 SC, ST, and OBC hostels, ensuring the provision of cooks, night guards, and librarians, as well as housekeeping.
The Cabinet has sanctioned a revised budget of Rs 114.47 crore for constructing residences for 11 cabinet ministers in Ranchi Smart City, up from the previously approved Rs 69.90 crore.
Jharkhand’s farmers are set to receive interest-free loans, with the state government boosting the interest subvention from 3% to 4%.
The initiative aims to eliminate interest costs for farmers repaying within the designated timeframe.
The establishment of Jamshedpur Co-operative Law College as an independent entity marks a significant stride towards enhancing legal education in the region.
This development transitions the college from being a part of Jamshedpur Co-operative College to a standalone institution.
Students aiming to benefit from the ‘Manki Munda’ Scholarship in the subsequent academic year must achieve at least 50% aggregate marks without any backlogs.
The scheme anticipates benefiting 1,200 engineering and 3,000 diploma students in its first year, promoting gender balance in technical education.
Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel highlighted the scholarship’s role in encouraging more girls to pursue technical education, addressing the current male-dominated enrolment in technical courses.
Under the ‘Manki Munda’ Scholarship, girl students will receive financial support of Rs 15,000 for diploma courses and Rs 30,000 for engineering courses annually.
The Jharkhand Cabinet, led by Champai Soren, has approved the scholarship proposal, signifying a major step towards gender equality in technical education.
