Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces Bharat Ratna for BJP stalwart LK Advani, marking a significant moment in Indian politics.
DESK – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday declared that Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, will be conferred upon veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani.
“The conferring of the Bharat Ratna on him is a very emotional moment for me,” PM Modi expressed on his official social media account.
He revealed having spoken to Mr. Advani, the former Deputy Prime Minister, to congratulate him on this prestigious honor.
PM Modi highlighted Advani’s monumental contribution to India’s development, praising his journey from grassroots work to serving as Deputy Prime Minister.
He commended Advani’s roles as Home Minister and Information & Broadcasting Minister, noting his exemplary Parliamentary interventions.
“Advani Ji’s decades-long service has set an exemplary standard in political ethics, emphasizing transparency and integrity,” Modi remarked.
The Prime Minister praised Advani’s efforts in promoting national unity and cultural resurgence.
He reflected on the privilege of learning from Advani’s extensive experience and wisdom.
Advani has been recognized as the longest-serving president of the BJP, significantly contributing to the party’s rise and India’s political landscape.
Under his leadership, the BJP formed its first coalition government in the 1990s, with Advani serving as Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004.
