Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s escalating ambitions for a greater share in the Lok Sabha 2024 seats are causing unease among its INDIA alliance partners, affecting internal harmony and sparking concerns over coalition dynamics.

RANCHI – JMM leaders recently returned from Delhi after discussions with Congress, having laid claim to half of Jharkhand’s 14 Lok Sabha seats, including Koderma, Chaibasa, and Lohardaga.

This assertiveness from JMM has led to visible strain within the alliance, particularly affecting the Congress.

Congress MLA Shilpi Neha Tirkey hinted at a strategy to counter BJP, emphasizing the strength of the alliance in specific constituencies and the need for united efforts.

She also suggested that a formula balancing wins and losses is imminent, underscoring the urgency to displace BJP from power.

Amidst these tensions, CPI Jharkhand leader Ajay Singh underlined the importance of JMM and Congress resolving their power dynamics, stressing Congress’s significant role in the elections.

Singh also expressed CPI’s aspiration to contest the Hazaribagh seat, citing previous victories over BJP without alliances.

The discomfort among smaller alliance partners, including Left parties, AAP, JDU, and RJD, is palpable, though they are restrained from speaking openly.

Leaders’ non-verbal cues indicate a consensus on the need for sacrificial spirit to defeat BJP.

The growing aspirations and resultant discord within the INDIA Alliance highlight a challenging road ahead for the coalition as they approach the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
