Saryu Roy’s Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha to Contest from Dhanbad Seat
Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy Announces His Party’s Candidacy for Dhanbad Parliamentary Elections
Saryu Roy’s party, Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha, will field a candidate in the upcoming elections for the Dhanbad parliamentary seat, with candidate announcements expected soon.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has declared that his party, Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha, is gearing up to contest the Dhanbad parliamentary seat.
Roy announced that the names of the candidates would be revealed shortly.
While distancing himself from the Congress candidate Anupama Singh, Roy clarified that although Singh and her husband Jaimangal Singh met with him, his support was not extended to her candidacy.
He described the meeting as a familial interaction, offering blessings in a personal capacity rather than a political endorsement.
Roy also sharply criticized Dhanbad’s BJP candidate Dhullu Mahato, citing legal troubles that include 19 pending cases according to an affidavit from the BJP’s state general secretary to the Election Commission.
A 2022 report by the Dhanbad SP to the Jharkhand High Court indicated numerous FIRs against Mahato, with only a few resulting in convictions.
Roy highlighted that many of these cases carry severe charges, potentially leading to lengthy prison terms for Mahato.
Political analysts speculate that Roy himself might emerge as his party’s candidate for the Dhanbad seat, adding an intriguing dynamic to the electoral race.
