Government to Impose restrictions on Movement Along India-Myanmar border

New Delhi:  Another significant decision has been made by the central government. Free movement on the India-Myanmar border will be halted by the government.

Up until now, individuals from both sides were permitted to access areas within a 16-kilometer radius of each other.

Free movement on the India-Myanmar border will be halted by the central government.

Under the free movement arrangements, individuals are permitted to travel up to 16 km into the territory of the other side without the need for any official documentation.

Experts have identified this as a key factor contributing to the lack of cash in Manipur. In an effort to curb the misuse of the FMR, various insurgent groups have been utilizing this system. Valid travel documents are required for anyone who wants to enter India.

The Indian government has made the decision to initiate a tender for a cutting-edge smart fencing system that will cover the entire border between India and Myanmar.

This will enhance the security measures at the border.
