UK Acknowledges Jharkhand’s Progress, Invites CM Hemant Soren for Visit

In a significant diplomatic interaction, British Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Andrew Fleming extended an invitation to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to visit the UK, recognizing Jharkhand’s achievements in education and other sectors.

RANCHI – British Deputy High Commissioner for east and north eastern states, Dr. Andrew Fleming, met with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the assembly hall on Thursday.

During the meeting, Dr. Fleming formally invited CM Hemant Soren to the United Kingdom on behalf of the UK Government.

This invitation reflects the UK’s appreciation for Jharkhand’s advancements in education, a recognition by the UK’s Department of Education and Department of Business and Trade.

Chief Minister Soren expressed his gratitude for the invitation and highlighted Jharkhand’s readiness for mutual cooperation with the UK.

The British Deputy High Commissioner also commended the Chevening-Marang Gomke Overseas Scholarship Scheme implemented by the Jharkhand Government.

Discussions during the meeting revolved around potential collaboration in various sectors, including education, particularly girls’ education, sports, tourism, climate change, and sustainable mining.

This meeting marks a significant step in fostering bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation between Jharkhand and the United Kingdom.
