Chief Minister Hemant Soren Unveils Hero Asian Hockey Championship 2023 Trophy
In preparation for the Hero Asian Hockey Championship 2023, Chief Minister Hemant Soren unveiled the championship’s prestigious trophy and launched the “Pass the Ball Trophy Tour.”
RANCHI – On Monday, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, unveiled the coveted Hero Asian Hockey Championship Trophy for the 2023 competition, scheduled to commence on August 3.
Concurrently, he launched the “Pass the Ball Trophy Tour” campaign and extended his heartfelt wishes to the Indian Hockey Team. Soren expressed optimism for the Indian team’s performance in the upcoming championship.
Increasing Enthusiasm and Attraction Towards the Championship
Soren appreciated the initiative to take the Hero Asian Hockey Championship-2023 trophy on a country-wide tour, highlighting that it would foster enthusiasm and attract attention towards the championship. The initiative is expected to raise interest among not just hockey players but sports lovers in general, potentially increasing the public’s engagement with hockey.
Jharkhand’s Deep Connection with Hockey
The Chief Minister underscored Jharkhand’s longstanding relationship with hockey, indicating that the sport has strong roots in every village of districts like Khunti and Simdega. He elaborated that children from these areas often pick up the stick from a young age, and their lives seem incomplete without hockey. As a result, numerous players from Jharkhand have made their mark at the national and international level, bringing glory to the state and the country.
Hosting the Asian Hockey Championship for the First Time
India is set to host the Asian Hockey Championship for the first time. The event, taking place in Chennai from August 3 to 12, will witness participation from teams across South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, and China, including host India. India has been the victor of the Asian Hockey Championship three times so far, winning titles in 2011, 2016, and 2018.
The event was attended by notable officials, including the Chief Minister’s Secretary, Mr. Vinay Kumar Choubey, Jharkhand’s Director of Sports, Mrs. Sarojini Lakra, the General Secretary of Hockey India, Mr. Bhola Nath Singh, the General Secretary of Hockey Jharkhand, Mr. Vijay Shankar Singh, the Vice President of Hockey Jharkhand, Mr. Dharmendra Kumar, and the CEO of Hockey Jharkhand, Mr. Rajneesh Kumar.
