Oldest College in Jamshedpur Faces Severe Infrastructure Crisis

Jamshedpur Workers’ College, Jamshedpur’s oldest educational institution, is in a critical state with its infrastructure posing significant safety hazards to students and staff. Despite warnings, the college remains operational for classes and exams, igniting fears of a looming disaster.

JAMSHEDPUR -The recent balcony collapse near the principal’s office at Jamshedpur Workers’ College starkly highlights the deteriorating infrastructure and safety risks at the institution.

Daily instances of structural failures are becoming a norm, compromising the educational environment.

Concerns about the lack of government response are growing, with some speculating this might indirectly favor private educational bodies.

The safety of numerous students, including those participating in the upcoming Olympiad for classes 8 to 10, is under threat due to the college being chosen as an examination center.

This decision by the Education Department to use the college for major exams has come under scrutiny, given the evident risks.

Adding to the college’s woes, its third NAAC accreditation cycle is jeopardized by the poor infrastructure.

Efforts to seek intervention from the University and HRD have been futile, leaving the college’s accreditation process in limbo.

Despite engineers declaring parts of the college unsafe, academic activities continue, raising alarms over potential catastrophes.

Jamshedpur Workers‘ College, an institution with a long history, now faces a crisis that endangers both educators and learners.

Immediate measures are needed to address these serious safety concerns and preserve the integrity of Jamshedpur’s educational landscape.
