Junior Doctors Strike Hits MGM Hospital Services

Indefinite Protest Disrupts OPD and Patient Care in Jamshedpur

Key Points:

  • Junior doctors begin indefinite strike over stipend demand
  • OPD services halted, emergency care continues partially
  • Patients forced to seek private treatment options

JAMSHEDPUR – Junior doctors at MGM Medical College launched an indefinite strike, disrupting hospital services and affecting patient care across the region.

Junior doctors began their strike on Monday at MGM Medical College. They demanded an increase in their monthly stipend.

Meanwhile, doctors had protested for a month using black badges. However, they intensified the agitation by stopping work.

Emergency services are still operational at the hospital. However, OPD and routine treatments have completely stopped.

Patients are facing severe difficulties due to the disruption. Moreover, many are returning without treatment or shifting elsewhere.

The hospital serves as the only government medical college in the Kolhan region. Therefore, a large number of patients depend on it daily.

In contrast, the ongoing strike has strained the entire healthcare system. Patients from distant areas are the most affected.

Doctors stated that their stipend has remained inadequate for years. Meanwhile, they claimed Bihar offers better compensation structures.

They also highlighted increasing workload and responsibilities. Moreover, they said the current pay does not match their duties.

No concrete steps have been taken by authorities so far. However, discussions may take place if the situation worsens.

Doctors warned the strike will continue until demands are met. Meanwhile, uncertainty remains over when normal services will resume in Jamshedpur.
