Postal Workers Demand Repairs for Unsafe Quarters in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur Postal Employees Face Eviction Amid Safety Concerns

In Jamshedpur, postal employees confront eviction from deteriorating quarters, demanding urgent repairs and secure living conditions.

JAMSHEDPUR – Union representatives of Postal department employees are voicing concerns over the lack of concrete repair plans for the unsafe postal quarters.

They emphasize the need for suitable living conditions for the postal employees and their families.

Out of the total 39 flats in the complex, 22 are homes to postal workers’ families, with the union office housed in two of these flats. The situation highlights the broader impact on the community and the need for immediate action.

The Civil Wing of the Postal Department has declared the buildings, which are only 40 years old, unsafe for habitation. This announcement has raised questions about the quality of the constructions and the department’s maintenance efforts.

Postal employees have been vocal about the poor state of their living quarters, stressing that their rent is regularly deducted from their salaries without corresponding repairs and maintenance. This neglect has contributed to the buildings’ rapid deterioration.

A family of 22 postal employees is grappling with the reality of an unexpected eviction notice. This directive has caused considerable distress among the workers, who are now worried about their future housing arrangements.

The postal department’s sudden decision to evict employees from dilapidated quarters has ignited a sense of panic and uncertainty among affected families.
