Sabal Awards Honor Persons with Disabilities in Grand Ceremony
The fourth Sabal Awards, organized by Tata Steel Foundation, showcased remarkable talent and resilience of persons with disabilities.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Foundation’s annual Sabal Awards held its fourth edition at the Tribal Culture Centre, Sonari, acknowledging the extraordinary abilities of persons with disabilities.
47 participants with disabilities took the stage, with the event drawing an audience of over 400 people from various regions of the country.
The ceremony featured 35 physically present participants, each a person with disability, and was supported by 38 escorts.
A 17-member jury panel evaluated performances, while 37 volunteers from Tata Steel Technical Institute, Burmamines, assisted on the ground.
Distinguished Tata Steel Limited delegates attended the event, including Chanakya Chaudhary, Dipankar Dasgupta, Dr. Sudhir Rai, Debashis Choudhary, Rituraj Sinha, R N Murty, and Ravi Radhakrishnan.
Dr. Gaurav Raheja, IIT Roorkee’s Head of Architecture and Planning, also graced the occasion.
The Sabal Awards featured two categories: Spirit of Expression and Spirit of Resilience, covering various sub-categories like Sabal Dancer, Vocalist, Musical Maestro, Wordsmith, Artist, Role Model, Changemaker, and Saathi.
Captain Amitabh from Tata Steel Foundation highlighted the event’s significance, celebrating the spirit and achievements of individuals with disabilities.
Established in collaboration with Enable India in 2017, Sabal – Centre for Abilities in Noamundi, Jharkhand, focuses on skill development, employability, and financial independence for persons with disabilities.
