Odisha Tribal Food Fest Celebrated at Tata Steel’s Regional Samvaad

Tata Steel Foundation’s Regional Samvaad showcased authentic tribal cuisine, promoting cultural exchange and preserving tribal heritage in Odisha.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) has organized an authentic tribal food festival as part of its Regional Samvaad near the Sukinda Chromite Mine in Jajpur, Odisha.

Known as the “Prajatiya Khadyotsav,” this event celebrated the rich culinary heritage of various tribal communities.

Home cooks from tribes including Sabar, Bhumij, Santhal, and others, presented traditional dishes, highlighting the diversity of tribal cuisine.

Pritiranjan Gharai, the Minister for Rural Development, Skill Development, and Technical Education of Odisha, praised the unique focus on tribal cuisine at the event.

Pankaj Satija of Tata Steel emphasized the festival’s role in conserving indigenous food practices and fostering entrepreneurship within tribal communities.

The festival, beyond its culinary focus, featured cultural performances and interactive sessions, enriching attendees’ understanding of tribal customs and lifestyles.

Distinguished guests, including Dr. Parmanand Patel, Ambika Prasad Nanda, and Debanjan Mukherjee, attended the event, adding to its significance.

The presence of local dignitaries, Panchayati Raj Institution members, and students from the Institute of Hotel Management, Bhubaneswar, underscored the event’s importance.

TSF’s commitment to promoting tribal culture and cuisine through such events demonstrates a dedication to cultural preservation and community engagement.
