Efforts to Resolve Pending 1984 Riot Cases Intensified in Jharkhand

Jharkhand’s DGP Ajay Kumar Singh spearheads a review of the 1984 riot cases, focusing on pending matters.

Ranchi – In a significant development, Jharkhand’s Director General of Police, Ajay Kumar Singh, led a review of the ongoing status of the 1984 riot cases via video conference from the police headquarters on Friday.

This review meeting marked a crucial step in addressing the decades-old cases, some of which remain unresolved.

During the conference, Singh directed the concerned authorities to expedite the resolution of these pending cases.

The conference saw participation from a range of officials, including Inspector General of Provision Prabhat Kumar and Senior Superintendents of Police from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad.

Superintendents of Police from several districts, including Bokaro, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Garhwa, Palamu, Giridih, and Koderma, along with Railway Dhanbad, were also involved.

This collective effort underlines the state’s commitment to bringing closure to the legal issues stemming from the 1984 riots.

The meeting’s focus on prioritizing the disposal of lingering cases highlights a concerted push towards justice and reconciliation for those affected by the events of 1984.
