JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur police have arrested three men in connection with a violent assault case from the Bagbera police station area.
The trio was sent to judicial custody after their arrest. The case was registered under case number 50/26 on June 30.
Several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita were invoked in the matter. The complaint was filed by Tej Narayan Tiwari, a resident of Kitadih Gwalapatti.
According to the complaint, his son Pankaj Tiwari and Pankaj’s friend Sachin Yadav were attacked. The alleged assailants included Ravi Yadav, Raj Mishra and eight to ten others.
Police said the attackers intended to kill the two young men. Both victims sustained serious injuries in the assault.
Meanwhile, the city’s Superintendent of Police ordered a focused response given the case’s severity. A special raiding team was formed under the Deputy Superintendent of Police for law and order.
The team carried out sustained operations following the directive. On July 12, officers arrested three of the accused involved in the incident.
Those arrested were identified as Ravi Yadav, 24, of Kitadih Gwalapatti; Rajnish Kumar Singh, 23, of Harharguttu Bada Talab; and Mohit Singh, 21, of Kinda Mohalla in Sundarnagar. All three were sent to judicial custody on Monday.
However, police said the search continues for the named and other absconding accused. “Raids are being carried out continuously to arrest the remaining suspects,” an officer said.
Further legal action is expected once all the accused are apprehended. Investigators are treating the case as a serious matter given the injuries sustained by the victims.
The broader Bagbera area has seen a string of assault-related complaints in the past, including a case in which a resident alleges assault by a group of men, and another where a suspect arrested after a similar attack elsewhere in the district. Separately, a youth attacked in a nearby locality had also prompted a police response. In an unrelated case, a man was earlier arrested in Bagbera on charges connected to a family dispute, while two friends were arrested in a separate assault case in the city. Police in the wider district have also recently made an arrest in a case involving similar circumstances.
