JAMSHEDPUR – The Senior Superintendent of Police held a special briefing on Monday to strengthen law and order in the city.
The session took place at 2 p.m. at the CCR complex in Sakchi. Personnel from Tango Mobile, PCR, Shakti Commando and the Quick Response Team attended.
Several senior officers were also present at the briefing. These included the SP (City), the DSP of CCR, the CCR inspector and the Sakchi station in-charge.
The SSP directed all personnel to perform their duties with full alertness. He also stressed discipline and preparedness during patrolling.
Officers were told to ensure regular and effective patrolling across the city. Strict action was ordered against those loitering at public spots and indulging in criminal activity.
Meanwhile, the anti-crime checking drive is to be intensified further. Police were also asked to keep close watch on suspicious individuals and vehicles.
The SSP made clear that any illegal activity spotted during patrolling must be reported at once. Information should reach the concerned station in-charge and the police control room without delay.
He warned of strict departmental action against personnel found negligent in their duties. However, he also announced rewards for officers and personnel performing exceptionally well.
“Special surveillance operations will continue without interruption to control crime and ensure public safety,” a senior police official said. Officials reiterated that maintaining law and order remains a top priority for the department.
The SSP has in the past led similar efforts, including a night patrol drive to reinforce city security. He had also carried out a surprise inspection at the Sakchi police station to review preparedness. The department’s anti-crime checking campaigns have been a recurring feature of city policing. Officials had earlier outlined a strategy to curb snatching incidents across Jamshedpur. The SSP has also periodically shuffled inspectors within the district to strengthen enforcement. Despite such efforts, incidents like a theft reported during Chhath Puja have tested the patrol team’s efforts in the past.
