Police Vehicle Rams Trailer After Raid, One Officer Dead

DHANBAD – A police vehicle returning from a raid collided with a trailer on the national highway near Jodapital early Monday, killing one constable and injuring four others.
The mishap occurred in the Barwadda police station area of Dhanbad. All four injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.
According to information received, constable Ram Lakhan Yadav was posted at Chalkusha police station in Hazaribagh district. He had travelled with a police team to Maithan police station area in Dhanbad for a raid.
The team was returning to Hazaribagh after completing the operation. Around 3:30 am on Monday, their vehicle struck a parked trailer from behind near Jodapital.
The impact was severe. Constable Ram Lakhan Yadav, seated on the front seat, died at the scene. Meanwhile, constables Naresh Kumar and Green Paswan, along with a private driver and one other person, suffered serious injuries.
Barwadda police reached the spot as soon as they received information about the highway accident. Officers arranged immediate treatment for the injured at a private hospital. The deceased constable’s body was taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem examination.
Kameshwar Chaudhary, a relative of the deceased, said Ram Lakhan Yadav had been serving with the Jharkhand Police. “He was returning after completing his duty when the accident happened,” Chaudhary said.
He further said the condition of all four injured persons remains critical. Police, in the meantime, have begun an investigation into the causes of the accident.
Besides this incident, similar pre-dawn collisions involving trailers and highway traffic have also been reported elsewhere in the state in recent days, including a trailer collision that claimed two lives.
