- Property worth lakhs destroyed, no casualties reported in incident

HAZARIBAGH – A massive fire tore through street food stalls at Annada Chowk on Sunday, destroying property worth lakhs of rupees though no casualties were reported.
Fire brigade teams brought a fierce fire under control at Annada Chowk. The blaze had engulfed several street food stalls earlier.
Subsequently, the fire broke out suddenly on Sunday. It triggered panic among people in the area.
Meanwhile, flames spread rapidly through the cluster of stalls. Local residents tried to douse the fire initially.
However, the flames kept growing despite their efforts. Fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot after being alerted.
A similar warehouse fire had struck Jamshedpur in April. Notably, firefighters worked for hours before controlling the blaze.
In addition, property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed. Food items, gas cylinders and furniture were completely burnt.
Refrigerators, utensils and other goods were also destroyed. A sweets factory fire had caused similar panic in May.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. Meanwhile, the exact cause of the fire remains unclear.
Officials suspect a short circuit or a gas leak. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet.
A similar fire had earlier gutted a Bistupur hotel. Police and fire department teams have launched an investigation.
“We are examining every possible cause,” an official said. Hazaribagh has also witnessed a past trailer fire incident.
Moreover, a large crowd gathered at Annada Chowk during the fire. Traffic was disrupted for some time as a result.
Police reached the spot and controlled the crowd. They also assisted firefighters in the rescue operation.
Local police had earlier probed a police station fire as well. Furthermore, the administration assured affected shopkeepers of full support.
Officials said the real cause would be revealed after investigation. Rail authorities had also tackled a freight train fire recently.
The fire caused heavy financial losses to street food vendors.
