KODERMA – A police team searching for a man accused of eloping with and marrying a minor girl came under a sudden knife attack from the young woman on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Koderma district. Police personnel narrowly escaped injury, while the accused man managed to flee amid the resulting chaos.
According to information, a case had been registered against the man for allegedly luring the minor away and marrying her. During the investigation, police received a tip-off that the accused was present with the young woman at a particular location.
Acting on the input, a police team reached the spot and attempted to apprehend the man. However, the minor girl suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked the officers, resisting the police action.
The personnel showed alertness and managed to protect themselves, avoiding any serious injury. Panic broke out at the scene during the incident, and the accused took advantage of the confusion to escape.
Following the knife attack, police took the young woman into their protection and began questioning her. Meanwhile, teams have launched repeated raids at possible hideouts to trace the fleeing accused.
Police officials said the accused would be arrested soon. They added that legal action would also be initiated in the case of the assault on police personnel.
The incident has triggered discussion in the area since it came to light. Police in Koderma are examining all aspects of the case as the investigation continues.
Similar swift-response operations have earlier helped Koderma police resolve cases quickly, including a chain-snatching case cracked within hours. Elsewhere, officers have also faced attacks with sharp weapons while making arrests, such as a case in Gujarat where a suspect was remanded to custody after attacking a policeman.
