Jallianwala Bagh Express to Continue Operations Despite Fog

Fog No Longer a Halt for Jallianwala Bagh Express Operations

Travelers to North India relieved as Jallianwala Bagh Express’s operation continues.

JAMSHEDPUR – Travelers heading towards North Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab have received welcome news: the Jallianwala Bagh Express will maintain its regular service through the foggy season. This decision, reversing an earlier suspension due to fog, was announced by Kaushik Mukherjee, Assistant Transport Manager of South Eastern Railway, Garden Reach Kolkata, on December 15.

The directive ensures the uninterrupted operation of the 18103 Tata Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express and the 18104 Amritsar Tata Jallianwala Bagh Express, which were previously scheduled to be halted from December 4, 2023, to February 28, 2024, and from December 6, 2023, to March 1, 2024, respectively.

The change follows a campaign led by Satbir Singh Somu, a young Sikh leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alongside families from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. They had submitted a demand letter to Ashwini Vaishnav, the Cabinet Minister of the Railway Ministry, at Tatanagar Railway Station.

This appeal, which was also sent to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and BJP National President JP Nadda, prompted a review of the railway’s decision.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, who was in the region to greenlight three trains from Orissa Rairangpur, met with BJP leaders and business organization representatives at Tatanagar station upon his return to Delhi.

Expressing gratitude, the BJP leader lauded the Railway Minister, the Chairperson of the Railway Board, and the Liaison Officer of the Railway Department for their decision, emphasizing its significance in meeting the sentiments and needs of the people.
