Jamshedpur Charts Path for Youth Economic Self-Reliance via Skill Development

District-led workshop aims to marry skill training with industrial needs for youth empowerment.

A pivotal skill awareness workshop cum meeting was organized in Jamshedpur under the guidance of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Ananya Mittal, marking a forward step towards integrating the district’s youth into the economy through skill development and training.

JAMSHEDPUR – At the Collectorate Hall, a significant gathering under the chairmanship of Mr. Ananya Mittal, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, laid the groundwork for an ambitious initiative aimed at economic empowerment of the district’s youth through targeted skill development.

The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between the district’s industrial needs and the skill set of its youth, fostering synergy between the District Skill Committee, local entrepreneurs, and development organizations.

A collaborative effort with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society is set to enhance Jharkhand’s employment landscape by making skill development more accessible and aligned with market demands.

"By focusing on skills like solar equipment repair, we open up new vistas for economic self-reliance among our youth," Mr. Ananya Mittal stated, emphasizing the strategic importance of such training programs.

The workshop underscored the necessity of specialized skill development schemes for the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG), aiming to pave their way towards self-employment and financial independence.

Discussions focused on identifying priority sectors for the coming year, fostering industry partnerships, and refining the skill training curriculum to increase its impact and effectiveness.

The event was attended by notable stakeholders including Project Director ITDA Mr. Dipankar Choudhary, representatives from the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce, UNDP, Tata Steel Foundation, Tata Motors, and other distinguished guests.

The district administration’s initiative highlights a commitment to equipping the youth with skills essential for the evolving economic landscape, with a special focus on inclusivity and diversity in training opportunities.

"This collaborative approach not only enriches our skill development programs but also strengthens our local economy by preparing our youth for the demands of the future," Mr. Ananya Mittal remarked, highlighting the synergy between public and private sectors in fostering economic growth.
