JAMSHEDPUR – Panic gripped passengers on the Steel Express train when smoke started to emanate from one of the wheels on Saturday morning.
The incident took place near Khatkura station, before Jhargram, when the train, number 12814, was en route from Tatanagar to Howrah. The courageous passengers, noticing the smoke, acted swiftly and pulled the train’s chain, bringing it to a halt at Khatkura station.
The Incident
The news was promptly conveyed to railway officials who promptly arrived at the scene to conduct repairs on the train. The train had initially departed on time from Tatanagar, but suddenly smoke started to pour out from coach number D9 near Jhargram, leading to an atmosphere of alarm among the passengers.
Investigations and Updates
Railway officials, upon arrival, started inspecting the train. At the time of this report, the train remained stationary at Khatkura station.
