National Karate Championship concludes: Jharkhand secures top spot with Orissa as runner-up

The 4th National Karate Championship in Mango Moon City, Jharkhand, saw a remarkable display of martial arts skills.

JAMSHEDPUR – The 4th National Karate Championship, organized by the Jharkhand Shorin-Ryu-Matssyashi-Karte-du-Association, was held at Mango Moon City’s Community Hall on 26th and 27th November 2023.

The event commenced with Single Kata on Sunday, 26th November, followed by singles kumite on Monday, 27th November.

Sihan Jitendra Kumar Sharma, director of the organizing association, supervised the tournament.

The closing ceremony was graced by Swami Vishuddha Nandan Bhiku, CDPO Durgesh Nandini, BJP leader Vikas Singh, and Organizing Director Rajeev Singh.

Karatekas from Orissa, Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh competed in the tournament.

In the Girls Kumite 20 to 25 kg category, Adrika Rai from Bengal won the gold, with Aditi Bagaria from Jharkhand taking silver, and Aarohi Vishwakarma from Bihar securing bronze.

Harshika Singh from Bihar won gold in the 25 to 35 kg Girls Kumite, followed by Neha Sharma from Jharkhand and Navasmita Nayak from Orissa.

In the Boys Kumite, Vinayak Sen Gupta from Orissa, Rajdeep Pradhan from Bengal, and Dhairya Agarwal from Jharkhand triumphed in the 35 to 40 kg category.

The 60 to 70 kg Boys Kumite – Black Belt category saw Pankaj Kumar Mahato from Orissa, Bhimsen from Bihar, and Jyoti Ranjan from Jharkhand securing the top three spots respectively.

Jharkhand emerged as the overall champion, with Odisha clinching the runner-up title in a display of skill and sportsmanship that highlighted the spirit of karate.
