JMM Criticizes Marandi’s Remarks on Uttarkashi Tunnel Tragedy

JMM Slams Marandi Over Insensitive Tunnel Tragedy Remarks; Urges Action

JMM central spokesperson condemns Babulal Marandi’s remarks on Uttarkashi tunnel accident, calls for immediate action and support.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has strongly condemned Babulal Marandi’s recent statement regarding the Uttarkashi tunnel accident, questioning his mental stability and suggesting he take a retreat.

JMM central general secretary and spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya, voiced these criticisms during a Monday press conference at the party office.

He highlighted the tragic incident in Uttarkashi, where 15 workers from Jharkhand were among those trapped following a tunnel collapse.

Bhattacharya noted the prompt response of the Jharkhand government, led by a senior IAS officer, Bhuvanesh Pratap Singh, in the rescue operations.

Despite these efforts, Marandi accused the state government of insensitivity, a claim Bhattacharya dismissed as politicization of the tragedy.

He further criticized the central government’s approach to worker safety in large-scale projects, citing several recent accidents, including the Sikkim dam disaster.

Bhattacharya questioned Prime Minister Modi’s absence at the incident sites, contrasting it with his attendance at World Cup matches.

The JMM spokesperson also addressed the Uttarkashi project’s lack of safety measures and emergency exits.

He assured that the Jharkhand Chief Minister, Hemant Soran, has directed that rescued workers receive immediate treatment in top hospitals, with financial concerns covered by the state.

Lastly, Bhattacharya responded to Marandi’s call for NRC implementation in Pakur, alleging the infiltration of key positions within the BJP’s state unit.
