Banna Gupta Distributes Soops with Offerings to Chhath Devotees

Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta Distributes 2100 Soops to Chhath Vratis in Jharkhand

Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta celebrates Chhath Puja on Nahay Khay day by distributing traditional offerings to devotees.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand’s Health Minister, Banna Gupta, partook in the Chhath Puja celebrations on Nahay Khay day by distributing ‘soops’ (traditional bamboo baskets used in offerings) to the devotees.

The distribution event took place near Khudiram Bose Chowk in Mango, where Gupta handed out 2100 soops to Chhathvartis (devotees observing the Chhath fast) on Friday.

Gupta expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Chhathvartis, considering it both a duty and an aspect of his ‘Rajdharma’ (the duty of governance).

Chhath Puja, a significant festival in the Hindu calendar, especially in the regions of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, involves worshiping the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya (a Vedic Goddess).

It is celebrated twice a year and is known for its rigorous rituals, including fasting and offering prayers at river banks.

The Health Minister’s participation in the festival underscored the government’s connection with cultural and religious practices in the state, reflecting a blend of governance and traditional values.

He has never been shy of showing his religiosity on festivals and this has made him popular among devotees.

His supporters said that as a popular leader he takes care to not only reinforce cultural bonds but also use the festivals as an opportunity to engage directly with the citizens.
