GHATSHILA – Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren concluded their campaign for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election with a joint rally at Maubhandar’s Tamra Pratibha ground on Saturday.

The rally marked the final public meeting in support of JMM candidate Somesh Chandra Soren. Both leaders appealed to voters to support the party, stressing development and welfare as key priorities.

Several ministers, MLAs, and MPs shared the stage during the event. Kalpana Soren paid homage to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and the late Ramdas Soren, highlighting the government’s achievements and initiatives for the people.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren addressed the gathering saying, “Whether you vote or not, we will continue to build roads and bridges.” His remark drew attention from the crowd as he assured ongoing development work regardless of political outcomes.

Both leaders also urged for a “sympathy vote,” reminding voters of local challenges and the government’s efforts to address them. The event marked a strong closing statement by JMM ahead of the Ghatshila bypoll.

For context, Kalpana Soren and Hemant Soren have been campaigning in Ghatshila since November 3, leading multiple rallies. Earlier, Somesh Soren was nominated as the JMM candidate. Meanwhile, Odisha CM and Banna Gupta have also campaigned vigorously, turning the by-election into a prestige contest for major parties.
