FIR Filed Against Kharsawan Residents for Property Fraud
An FIR was lodged at Kharsawan police station against three residents, accusing them of property fraud and deception.
SERAIKELA – Based on the complaint filed by Bikul Chandra Dey, a resident of Kumarsai Tola in Kharsawan, an FIR was registered against R Nayak, one Amin, and another resident of Kharsawan at the local police station.
The FIR alleges a deception concerning the purchase of property.
The FIR states that Bikul Chandra Dey and his brother were in financial distress, prompting them to consider selling their five-decimal property. R Nayak showed interest and agreed on a purchase price of Rs 11 lakh.
Through a bank transaction, the brothers received Rs 10.5 lakh and were to receive the remaining Rs 50,000 on the day of the property’s registration.
On July 7, 2023, at the Seraikela registrar office, they were shown the drafted documents, indicating the property as five decimals.
However, the sale amount stated on the document was Rs 18 lakh 20 thousand, not the agreed-upon Rs 11 lakh.
When questioned, the buyer and the document writer defended the discrepancy, stating that a higher price was needed for a larger loan amount.
Nonetheless, the plea was not accepted that day.
The following day, July 8, the buyer, the document writer, and Amin claimed that some signatures were missing on the documents and had the brothers sign in the empty places without allowing them to read the documents.
The plea was registered, and when published, the property size was fraudulently increased to 2 acres 70 decimals instead of the original five decimals.
According to the FIR, after confronting the buyers about the deception, Bikul Chandra Dey and his brother received murder threats.
Following complaints to the Circle Officer Kharsawan and the Deputy Commissioner, the Kharsawan police station registered the FIR against the accused.
