Adityapur Residents Halt Drain Work, Demand Estimate-Based Construction
Residents of Adityapur’s Ward 20 interrupt drain construction, demanding that a concrete drain be built as per original estimates, criticize lack of transparency.
ADTIYAPUR – In the Adityapur Municipal Corporation Ward 20 of Kharsawan district, local residents have halted the construction of a hume pipe drain, instigated by the Municipal Corporation, behind the local police station.
Residents are demanding a shift from the hume pipe to a concrete drain, constructed according to original estimates.
Former councilor, Virendra Gupta, arrived on the scene, echoing the residents’ demands for adherence to the agreement made with the Municipal Corporation.
Gupta pointed out that the estimate had stipulated a concrete drain.
Accusations have been made of collusion between the Municipal Corporation and departmental officers, leading to the substitution of the concrete drain for a hume pipe following the end of the current Municipal Corporation’s tenure.
He argued that this drain, being the primary one for Ward 20 and under significant pressure, should be prioritized.
Drain construction has remained unfinished for the past four years.
Gupta urged Municipal Corporation officials to physically verify the site to gain a proper understanding of the situation.
Local residents have made it clear that they will not accept drain construction that deviates from the original estimates.
