Skyrocketing Vegetable Prices Impact Budget of Jamshedpur Residents

Inflation in vegetable prices in Jamshedpur impacts citizens’ budgets, with tomatoes reaching Rs 120 per kg and other vegetables at Rs 60 per kg.

JAMSHEDPUR – Vegetable prices in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, are currently experiencing a significant hike, with no type of green vegetables available for less than Rs 60 per kilogram.

The steepest increase is seen in the price of tomatoes, currently retailing at Rs 120 per kilogram.

Prices for other vegetables such as okra, brinjal, nanua, and bitter gourd are equally high.

As a result, many people have resorted to purchasing only enough vegetables for immediate consumption.

According to local vendors, the inflation can be attributed to crop failures among farmers.

They have stated that, given the present circumstances, a decrease in prices seems unlikely in the near future.

This hike in prices has also resulted in reduced footfall in local markets.

Regardless of the reasons, the impact on the everyday budget of common citizens due to the inflated prices of green vegetables is undeniable.
